My love for food and cooking really started when I was a young teen when I began making meals for my large family. I loved how I could create meals with simple ingredients that tasted good, and others enjoyed. My love for food and cooking over the years turned into my passion, and it led me to pursue a career in Nutrition, and becoming a Registered Dietitian. As a busy mom, I know that it can be a challenge to feed ourselves and our families with the foods that are fresh and wholesome. What I feed my family is important, because what they eat is their fuel for the day, and what type of fuel we put into our bodies plays a key role in what we do with our bodies and minds. Everything I do starts with a solid science, and evidence based foundation. I use evidence based practices, articles that are peer reviewed, and give advice to clients with strategies that have been proven to work, and are backed by science.
I have been trained in and continue to practice Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in an acute care setting as a Clinical Dietitian at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Gatos, CA. I work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to produce nutrition assessments of patients admitted to the hospital, as well as provide nutrition education for patients with a multitude of conditions and varying levels of acuity of all age groups from pediatric patients (including Pediatric ICU), to patients in the Neuro-Surgical and Cardiovascular Intensive Care units. In addition to my regular clinical duties, I provide Nutrition Education Classes to patients in the Inpatient Behavior Health Unit, and patients that are part of the Cardiac Rehab Outpatient Program at the Mission Oaks campus of Good Samaritan Hospital.
I have a passion for educating others about nutrition, cooking, physical activity, and wellness. I use photography as a tool to connect with my clients, and provide them with a positive image of themselves to see them through the lens that others see them, and through the transitions they are making. I take special regard to whole body and mind wellness and balance. I focus on each client individually, and provide a service that meets their personal needs. By doing this, I become more than just a consultant or source of knowledge, I become a mutual partner in their path to healthy living.
I believe that by supporting one's progress with positive motivation and care, utilizing specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound (SMART) goals, and then demonstrating, through photographic milestone tracking, the client's actual progress, their countenance will speak for itself and they will be on a path of self-sustaining, life long, whole body and mind wellness and health.
